BossAction NFL Previews: Philadelphia Eagles

The defending NFC Champion Philadelphia Eagles had a great draft ahead of the 2023 season. Although the Eagles are just the third choice to win the Super Bowl at +750, pay per head bookie betting agents had better set max limits on Philly to repeat as National Football Conference champs and lift the Lombardi Trophy.

BossAction’s 2023 Philadelphia Eagles NFL Preview

2022-2023 Philadelphia Eagles Recap

The Philadelphia Eagles had one of the most successful NFL Seasons in history. The 2019 Super Bowl winners finished the regular season with a 14-3 record, winning their division, the NFC East, and the conference title.

The Eagles held a 27-21 lead over the Kansas City Chiefs heading into the Super Bowl’s fourth quarter. The Chiefs rallied to score 17 points and beat the Eagles 38-35.

Philadelphia Eagles offense heading into the 2023 season

On April 17 this year, the Eagles inked quarterback Jalen Hurts to a 5-year, $255 million extension. The extension means Hurts, an NFL MVP contender for this season, will play in an Eagles uniform for at least half a decade.

In 2023, Jalen gets to throw to one of the most dynamic receiving duos in the league: DeVonta Smith and A.J. Brown. Smith and Brown dominated defenses last season.

If opponents key on Brown and Smith, Hurts can either run the ball himself or hand it off to former Detroit Lions’ RB D’Andre Swift. The reason?

Philly boasts one of the absolute best offensive lines, if not the overall best, in the league. The O-line will protect Jalen Hurts, meaning bookie software agents must set max limits on Jalen to score the NFL MVP.

Philadelphia Eagles defense heading into the 2023 season

Philly’s defense played great last season. But as soon free agency hit, Javon Hargrave ditched the Lincoln Financial Field birds for the San Francisco 49ers.

For sure, there were nervous Eagles fans. Then the NFL Draft happened, and those fans now believe they’ve got the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year in their building.

Eight teams passed on Georgia defensive tackle Jalen Carter due to his off-the-field situation. Knowing they had a shot at choosing the top-rated overall player in the Draft, the Eagles pulled the trigger. Carter is an incredible talent. He has the skills to be the next Reggie White, the most significant player in Eagles’ history until Jalen Hurts wins a Super Bowl.

Drafting Carter in the first round wasn’t the only thing Philly did to improve their defense. Later in the first round, the Eagles drafted Carter’s UGA teammate, Nolan Smith.

Nakobe Dean and Jordan Davis, two starters on Philadelphia’s defense, are also former Georgia Bulldogs. If Carter straightens out his off-the-field situation, he is undoubtedly an NFL Rookie Defensive Player of the Year candidate. So is Smith.

Price per head agents should set max limits on both rookie defenders.

Eagles Schedule Analysis

On paper, the Eagles are the class of the NFC East. Philadelphia should sweep the Giants and Commanders. A loss to the Cowboys is possible.

But Philly should only lose up to two other games during the season. The losses should come against Kansas City and San Francisco. If those two teams don’t beat Philadelphia, the New York Jets and quarterback Aaron Rodgers might.

At the end of the season, bookmaker software agents shouldn’t be surprised if Philadelphia wins the NFC East, the conference, and Super Bowl LVIII.
